It is widely acknowledged that STEM careers are male dominated. Figures suggest that currently women account for only 16% of those working in ICT in the UK.
Thanks to campaigning by organisations such as WISE, the picture is changing. A new generation of women are making the most of new technical routes through education to start their careers with major technology companies.
From artificial intelligence, machine learning, and augmented reality to virtual reality and applications that drive change, women trailblazers are leading tech innovation at different levels.

“Technology is truly an amazing industry to work in – the innovation which you can see today and the future growth – it’s fantastic to be a part of it”

Helen took a year out to travel and was keen to return to the IT Industry on her return to the UK. Re-joining the industry with another IT Company, she got the exposure of service desk accounts before moving into the request management team completing system administration across several accounts. Her role also developed into knowledge capture and working with the BTO teams.
Helen progressed to working at Managed 24/7 which was a role that she has excelled in, allowing her to move to a new role as a Request Manager on one of Managed 24/7’s newest and largest user support base. Working closely with the current Team Leader on this team, she is also assisting with some Team Leading duties with a view of progressing further within Managed 24/7.
“My interest in Technology goes back to when I was at school, where my focus was Maths and Science which unfortunately at the time, being so young I decided against continuing my studying with a focus on travelling the world and having a family. Since having my daughter, I decided to go back to my passion in a full-time capacity, when the right opportunity arise. That is when I joined Managed 24/7 I am so happy with being back working in the technology industry and with a great team!”
Managed 24/7 are currently recruiting for positions throughout the business, for more information visit our current vacancies here.
